Most global changes, based on purely selfish private interests are highly detrimental to the general economy, the health of the planet and the life it harbors. | Lack of active participation in the important decisions of the government allows private businesses to influence members of Congress, Federal and state agencies, to pass legislation favorable to them, but negative for the rest. Big businesses are well organized and keep a lobbying army, always ready to influence officials of the government. Worrying about the economy and our future alone does not help. We need to be informed about the reforms being discussed in Congress, call our representatives and senators, and express our thoughts. That is the duty of a responsible citizen.
